When should you turn PDF pages into JPG images?
Convert to JPG when the destination accepts pictures but not documents. Instagram, WhatsApp statuses, most website builders and presentation apps want images. Converting PDF to JPG lets you post a page of a menu or flyer, drop a report chart into a slide, or attach a certificate to a profile that only accepts images.
Images are also a practical way to share a single page without sending the whole document. Keep in mind that a JPG is a picture: the text in it can't be selected, searched or edited, and it can't be turned back into a sharp PDF later. Export at the resolution actually needed, and keep the original PDF.
What resolution and quality should you pick?
Pick 150 DPI at quality 85 unless the image will be printed. DPI decides how many pixels each inch of the page gets: an A4 page is about 595 × 842 pixels at 72 DPI, 1240 × 1754 at 150 DPI and 2480 × 3508 at 300 DPI. Phones and web pages rarely benefit from 300 DPI.
The quality slider runs from 50 to 100 in steps of 5 and controls JPG compression. Around 85 is a good default; raise it to 90–100 for pages with small print, or drop to 70 for the smallest files when sharing previews. PDF to PNG has no quality setting, because PNG is always lossless.

How does the PDF to JPG conversion run?
The browser opens the PDF with pdf.js, Mozilla's open-source PDF renderer, and draws one page at a time onto a canvas with a white background, then saves that canvas as a JPG. Rendering sequentially keeps memory use low, so even long documents convert on a phone.
Files are named after the PDF with a zero-padded page number, such as report-page-03.jpg, so they sort correctly in any folder. Pages are rendered with print intent, which means annotations and form fields appear as they would on paper. Several pages are packed into one ZIP file, built locally as well.
Is the PDF uploaded at any point?
No, nothing is uploaded at any point. The PDF, its password if it has one, and the images all stay inside the browser tab, which makes the tool suitable for bank statements, medical letters and internal reports. There is no account, no queue and no daily limit, because no server does any of the work.
How do you get cleaner images with less effort?
Fix the PDF first, then export. Cropping wide margins and rotating sideways pages before conversion means every JPG comes out ready to use, with no second pass in an image editor. These steps take a few seconds each and all run in the browser:
- Crop PDF first to remove wide margins before exporting.
- Rotate PDF first if pages are sideways, so every image comes out upright.
- Very long documents: export ranges of 50 or 100 pages at a time on phones.
- To turn images back into a document later, use JPG to PDF.

Which DPI should I choose?

How do I convert just one page of a PDF to JPG?
Switch from All pages to Choose pages and type the page number, for example 4. A single page downloads directly as a JPG file instead of a ZIP, named after the PDF with the page number added.
Can anyone else see the pages I convert?
No. Pages are rendered by pdf.js inside the browser and encoded to JPG locally, so the PDF, its password and the images are never sent to a server. Closing the tab clears them from memory.
Should I use JPG or PNG?
JPG for photos, PNG for fine text. JPG makes much smaller files and suits pages with photos or colour backgrounds. PNG is lossless and better for pages with small text or line drawings that must stay razor sharp.
Why are some images smaller than the DPI I picked?
Because browsers limit a single canvas to roughly 16 megapixels. Very large pages, such as posters or architectural drawings at 300 DPI, are scaled down to stay within that limit, and the summary mentions when this happened.
Does it extract the original images from the PDF?
No. It renders a picture of each whole page, including text and graphics, which is what sharing and thumbnails usually need. Photos embedded in the PDF are not pulled out as separate files at their native resolution.
