What can you do with Organize PDF?

Organize PDF lets you reorder, rotate, delete and insert pages on one screen and save the result as a single new file. The table lists every action. Doing all page-level fixes in one pass means the document is written once, instead of being run through three separate tools and downloaded three times.

When do PDF pages need reorganizing?

Pages need reorganizing mostly after scanning and when assembling a document from parts. Scans rarely come out perfect: sheets get fed in the wrong order, a few end up upside down, and there is always a blank page from the back of a sheet. A duplex scan of a stack that was loaded backwards is fixed with one click on Reverse order.

The tool is equally useful for assembling documents. Move an appendix to the end, put the signed signature page after the contract, or insert a blank page so a double-sided print keeps chapters starting on the right-hand side. Blank pages also work as separators between sections of a merged file.

How does the page grid work?

Every card in the grid shows its current position and the original page number, so it is always clear what came from where. Thumbnails are rendered on your device with pdf.js and only as you scroll to them, which keeps long documents quick. The details below make the grid safe to use on a touch screen.

• Drag from the grip bar at the top of a card; tapping the thumbnail itself never moves a page by accident.
• Keyboard and screen reader users can move pages with the arrow buttons, which announce the page and its position.
• Rotate all turns every page at once, useful for landscape scans that came out sideways.
• Blank pages take the size of the page before them, so they match the rest of the document.
• Undo keeps a history of recent steps, and a whole drag counts as one step.

Does reordering or rotating pages reduce quality?

No, quality is unchanged, because pages are copied into the new file without being re-rendered. When you save, the tool sends a simple plan to a background worker in your browser: which original page goes in each position, how far to turn it, and where blank pages go. The pdf-lib library then copies those pages, so text stays selectable and images keep their resolution.

Rotation is added to any rotation the page already had, which means a page that was stored sideways and displayed upright stays correct. The PDF specification allows only multiples of 90 degrees for this value, so the buttons turn in quarter steps. A blank page inserted at the very start takes the size of the page that follows it.

Is the original PDF changed?

No, the file you opened is never changed; the result downloads as a separate copy with “organized” in its name. Title, author, subject and keywords are carried over from the original. You can open the organized copy again here if something still needs moving, as often as you like.

Deleted pages are simply left out of the plan, so their images and fonts are not copied into the new file unless another page shares them. That often makes the organized PDF smaller than the original. If it is still too large to send, Compress PDF reduces the images that remain.

What are the limits of organizing a PDF in the browser?

The limits are 200 MB per file, one PDF at a time, and the memory of your device. Documents with hundreds of pages work, but thumbnails are drawn locally, so older phones need a moment while scrolling. To combine several files, run them through Merge PDF first and organize the merged result.

Bookmarks from the original file are not kept, because their targets may have moved or been deleted. Password-protected PDFs open after you enter the password, and the organized copy is saved without it; use Protect PDF afterwards if it needs a password again. Digital signatures become invalid after any change, so organize before signing.
